Blogger Blogs With "Explicit" Adult Content To Be Converted To Private Blogs From March 23, 2015

Google has announced that starting from March 23, 2015, you won't be able to publicly share images and video that are sexually explicit or show graphic nudity on Blogger. Failure to abide by this policy from that day, might force Google to delete your Blogger blog or take other action.


If your existing blog does have sexually explicit or graphic nude images or video, your blog will be made private after March 23, 2015. No content will be deleted, but private content can only be seen by the owner or admins of the blog and the people who the owner has shared the blog with.

If your blog was created before March 23, 2015, and contains content that violates the new policy, you have a few options for changing your blog before the new policy starts:

    ==> Remove sexually explicit or graphic nude images or video from your blog
    ==> Mark your blog as private.

If you’d rather take your blog down altogether, you can export your blog and probably move to WordPress.

How Do You Think OgbongeBlog Can Help Upcoming Bloggers ?

For some months now, I've been pondering how how I can use my blog to help upcoming bloggers. I know there are a lot of them out there that really want their blogs to grow fast as soon as possible without having to break the bank . No doubt many bloggers want to win awards too and become a popular blogger like me in Nigeria and beyond.





Most times, I receive emails from Bloggers that want me to write about their blogs on my blog for free. Some will request I help them create or re-design their blog for free. Some want me to be an admin of their blogs so they will only focus on content. Some just want me to be sharing their blog updates all accross my social media accounts. Some will send me their blog links for me to review and tell them what to add or remove. The list is endless.

Most of those services are services I get paid for. So, imagine me using my limited time to offer all those services for free to everybody. I believe you will agree with me that it won't make sense. Although I try as much as I can to help but to be honest I can't help all.



Let's say I decide to be writing about an a blog from an upcoming blogger every week, what criteria will I use? If I decide to redesign a blog for an upcoming blogger every week, will it be in form of contest? These and other questions are what I'm still asking myself as at the time of writing this post.

The Truth About GNLD Marketing Vacancies on Job Sites In Nigeria

I saw this on Nairaland and decided to share it with you. Read carefully and share with friends.

Wellness homes claims to be a health maintenance organisation but they  are just a distributor of a foreign company known as GNLD.  Wellness homes has many subsidiaries such as bloomnet, healthstream alliance and keylinks golgen concept, Accent Hills (Now in Akure) Etc.



Mind you, they are not fraudsters. But just that they are not open. They won't tell you the truth until you are in. Wellness homes which is located on 9 oremeji street, isolo Lagos claims to be a health maintenance organisation and they advertise fake jobs on Nigerian job portals.





They claim to be in search graduates to work as business development executives, client relations officers, admin officers etc.  They advertise these fake jobs on jobsites and after you have applied, they send you text message inviting you for an interview at no 9 oremeji street, isolo, lagos or at any of their branches.  Notice that the text message arrives late on the day before the interview.  This is done in order for you not to be able to verify the address.  Just type 9 oremeji street in google and you will find many stories about it.



On arrival at the interview, graduates that have traveled from distant parts of Nigeria in the hope that a genuine company wants to interview them for a job discover that is not the case.  Wellness homes and its subsidiaries are just distributors of supplements.



In Nigeria today, the demand for supplements is low and the people at wellness homes know this but they have to sell their products.  And what better way to sell their products than to lure unsuspecting jobseekers into purchasing their products.  That is the truth about wellness homes, they are wholesalers and they want you to buy their products.  They are the sellers and you are the buyer.



In my professional opinion I won’t advice you to purchase the supplements because there is no demand for it.  The people at wellness homes know this, if the demand is there why cant they sell it themselves and keep the profits for themselves.



Wellness homes charge jobseekers =N= 8500 for training to become a nutritionist, but again the market is not there for nutritionists.  In my professional opinion I won’t advice you to pay the training fee of =N=8500.  It is after you have paid the training fee of =N=8500 that they inform you that they are distributors and that you have to buy their supplements.  The minimum you can buy is around =N=30,000 worth of supplements.  If you sell this =N=30,000 worth of supplements you will make around =N=48,000 as revenue giving you a profit of =N=18,000.  But the demand is not there and you may end up not selling the supplements for months or years.



The issue with wellness homes is that they are not operating illegally, all they do is to deceive jobseekers into paying =N=8500 for training and into buying their products.  Because they are not operating illegally, you can’t file a lawsuit against them or call the police.  But what you can do is to demand a refund of your =N=8500 training fee because they did not inform you that you have to buy their supplements.



If they refuse to refund your training fee, then you can sue them or call the police.  =N=8500 may seem like small money but if 1000 jobseekers don’t ask for a refund the amount they make from unsuspecting jobseekers is =N=8,500,000.  Also, if 1000 jobseekers purchase =N=30,000 worth of supplements, the amount they make from unsuspecting jobseekers is =N=30,000,000 worth of supplements.



The more products unsuspecting jobseekers buy from them, the more profits they make as wholesalers plus the foreign company known as GNLD pays them more commission and gives them travel benefits.  Please be informed that this travel benefit is only for the few top bosses of wellness homes.  But they trick you into believing that you can also become one of the top bosses by selling more supplements.



The fact is that you will never sell enough supplements because the market is not there.  But wellness homes have their market, you are their market.  They are more or less dumping the supplements on you.  My advice to you is to ask for a refund of your training fee and get out.



Wellness homes also claim to test people with a machine known as the quantum resonance body analyzer.  They claim that this device can test 30 internal organs of the body, but is that so? In my professional opinion, in order to test internal organs of the body, you need to take not only one blood test but a series of blood and sample tests so how can a mechanical device test the functioning of your internal organs without blood or sample tests.





Also, there is not enough information on the Chinese made quantum machine by western scientists.  If the machine is truly genuine then more information will be available to everyone.  In my professional opinion it is not possible to test the functioning of internal organs without blood or sample tests.=



Wellness homes lure unsuspecting jobseekers into paying the training fee and in to buying their products by informing the jobseekers that wellness homes will provide them with the quantum machine in order to carry out tests on Nigerians at a price of around =N= 4000 per test.  They in form the jobseekers that the jobseekers can test over 100 people per day resulting in a revenue of =N= 400,000 per day.



They claim to pay jobseekers all of the revenue made form the quantum tests.  But why are they so generous? If the test is truly genuine why can’t they carry out the test themselves and keep the profits for themselves.  They do this to lure jobseekers into paying the =N=8500 training fee.  I don’t know whether or not they carry out the quantum test on Nigerians or not but in my professional opinion it is not possible for mechanical device to test the functioning of internal body organs.  You might as well test your internal organs with a boiling ring or a gas cooker as far as I am concerned.



The main trick jobseekers fall for is the lie that you can make =N=4000 per test.  I am sure that Nigerians are not silly and they will rather go to a public hospital for a blood and sample test than to spend =N=4000 on a phantom machine.  You may have read blogs about people claiming to make lots of money from quantum tests but it is probably the people at wellness homes that that put the message on the blog in order to deceive jobseekers.



My advice to jobseekers is to demand a refund a refund of their training fee.  But again if you believe that you can sell their products, it is up to you.  But the truth is that the market is not there but wellness homes have their market, you are their market.  Wellness homes don’t offer jobs, they are just wholesalers of products that nobody wants to buy.  My advice to jobseekers is to google the addresses of the interview before you go for the interview.  For your information 9 oremeji street, isolo is a bungalow located in a residential neighborhood and there is no signboard on the building.

KemiFilani.com Recognized by Mashable.com

While going through my taptu feeds yesterday, I stumbled on an article on Mashable.com in which 360Nobs, BellaNaija.com and KemiFilani.com were mentioned as top local blogs in Nigeria that reported the abduction of chibok girls by Boko Haram on April 15, a day or more before Western media picked up the news.



While it might not sound as a big deal to you, it is to me. Mashable is a well respected tech blog in USA, with a global Alexa rank of "222" as at the time of publishing this article; the kind of site bloggers like me love to get a backlink from.

Besides the backlink, am sure you know what it means when a site like Mashable reports that Punch and other smaller bloggers picked up a news from your blog... :) When such happens, you can assume the author has been following your blog, probably bookmarked your blog as one of the top blogs in Nigeria.

Anyway, I am glad to see Kemi Filani's blog going places. Kemi, a Mass Comm graduate from Redeemers University, is really doing a great job on her blog and if you do follow her blog, you will notice she is different from most of the copy and paste Nigerian gossip bloggers out there. She shares any gossip with her readers even if a top blogger like Linda Ikeji is involved.

KFB foodie recipe, events, love stories are brilliant ideas she integrated into her blog and are making sense so far. She started the blog in 2012 but became serious with it in 2013. I was the one that even registered the domain name for her last year. Her blog now ranks 236 in Nigeria on Alexa as at the time of publishing this.

There is currently a global outcry as well as pressure on the Nigerian government to ensure the release of the 234 Chibok girls whose whereabouts are unknown up till this very moment, even to the Federal government of Nigeria.





The Nigerian girls were recently abducted at their school, Government Science Secondary School Chibok, Borno state by the terrorist group; Boko Haram when they were in the school to write the West African Examination Council (WAEC) physics exams. 

In an effort to put pressure on the Nigerian government and all enabled international parties to immediately rescue the missing girls, some websites have emerged which include: www.chibokgirls.com and www.bringbackourgirls.com



At chibokgirls.com, you can read the stories of the abducted girls, follow up with news and events that are related to the abduction as well as provide information that might lead to the rescue of the chibok girls.



Bringbackourgirls.com simply features a widget that displays all tweets that are tagged with the #BringBackOurGirls hashtag. Right there, you can also follow news related to the missing girls as well as donate some money to support the families and volunteers who are searching for the abducted girls.

Slotlimited.com Redirected To Slot.ng

While trying to check the current price list of Tecno Android phones at SLOT throughout last week, the SLOT Nigeria website was not accessible. I also noticed that www.slotlimited.com automatically redirects to www.slot.ng. I checked again this morning and I am glad it's now working fine.



The SLOT website now looks a bit different from the old design, although it still maintains the red/black/white colour theme. You can view the price list of all accessories, phones, laptops etc available for sale at SLOT by clicking on the "Products" link in the navigation bar.

The search bar at the top of the site makes it easier to get the price of any phone or accessory and the site now features the "SLOT Magazine"; an online gadget magazine available at phoneshoppers.net.

SLOT still have a lot of work to do on the site especially as regards to the SLOT online store which is not fully integrated with the slot.ng domain name. Making the "Sign in" and "Create an account" link to redirect to "bigcommerce.com" link is not really cool at all. I hope they work on this asap.

Blog Restored 4 days After It Was Disabled by Blogger

Yeah! OgbongeBlog is back :)



Wondering..."from where" ?



Well, Blogger Spam Automated Classification System disabled it on Saturday afternoon.





Exactly same thing happened in October last year but this time around, it was restored 4 days after it was disabled unlike then which took almost a month to get the blog back online.





So fast?



Well, I submitted the unlock request same day it was disabled and decided to chill for 48 hours. 2 working days elapsed and didn't get any feedback from Blogger. So, yesterday, I went ahead to post the complain at the Blogger forum and did the needful.



I forwarded the discussion's link to the contact that helped me with it last year and I was so glad when I received a mail from Blogger this afternoon that my blog has been reinstated.

You can now keep enjoying free access to my tutorials. :)



During the downtime, I was able to move my new blog from Blogger to Wordpress.

Beware of This Arik Airline Job Offer Scam

This story is from a fellow Blogger.



She recently got duped of N20,000 and I still can't believe she could fall for such scam. There may be one or two lessons to learn from the story. So read carefully.

 You see, apart from blogging, I have this 9-5pm job that I do and
sometimes my work extends to receiving calls/making calls to clients (if
need be).

So on Friday while carrying about my job description diligently, a
client who claimed to be 'Patrick Okafor' from Arik Airline, called to
make some enquiries and as usual I received the call calmly, curtly and ...as I could.



After attending to his enquiries, he thanked me and said he was very
impressed with how I attended to him. He asked for what I studied in
school, my grades, credentials...blah blah and then he asked if I'l like to work with Arik Air.



I simply laughed over it but he was very persistent so I quickly googled his name and I found that the supposed 'Patrick Okafor' was real, he's the GM for security/operations in Arik plus he won two awards recently.



In convincing me, he said "See dear, Arik is currently recruiting
(not cabin crew), customer/human resource/client officers and today is
the last day for the interview and I will really like you to be there, you have really impressed me" and then he mentioned a mouth watering, jaw breaking and bone weakening salary range!



I
was glad, in my mind I was like 'wow, God is this how amazing you are,
see how you've favoured me" but there was but, he needed me to fly to
Abuja that day.



I looked through my schedule and asked if I could fly in on Monday for
my interview cos I didn't plan to leave Lagos this weekend but he said 'Nah, we've selected the
employees and today is the final interview stage, medical check-ups and
screening will hold tomorrow (Saturday) I am going to include your name
cos I'm on the board and your training will begin in Lagos on Monday"



It sounded so real, I suspected no foul play but I told him 'Thank you for the offer sir but I love my current job....and I can't fly out of Lagos today".  He said 'Okay' and asked if I had any friend who is as pleasant as I am or that I can vouch for.



"I will be extending the opportunity to three of your
friends, preferably a male and two females but I will really like you to
come, I want you to work with us at Arik, you impressed me".



So I told him I would get back to him.



Sharp sharp I took to my BBM status and threw it open for my contacts,
in less than 3 seconds, I got over a 100 pings...anyways, I selected two
of them and asked them to call the dude which they did.



I began having second thoughts and my conscience began scolding me "....you don't know if this is God's way of turning your life around for the best, lol"



So I sent him a text saying "I changed my mind, I'm interested."



He called back, he laughed (he has this chief-like voice by the way) and
asked why I said no at first...anyway, he said I needed to go and book a
flight at the airport and when we checked the fee, it was like 33k+.



So I said "I don't have that amount to spend o" and he said 'Don't worry, you will be given a discount...you will only pay N20, 110...I will give you the account to pay it into (Diamond Bank...A/c name Stella Chibuzor Obiahuba A/c Nos:  0036030010) so
that you can have your ticket sorted out on time...all you need to do
is to show up at the airport with your teller and passport...take your
credentials, NYSC cert, birth cert, five passports and CV along (as if I didn't know tha)...you will need that at the interview"



And I asked 'how do I return?"



"You need to back in Lagos Saturday noon or evening so you can get
ready for your training which starts Monday. Return flight is about 33k+
too but don't worry, I assure you that your name will be included in the staff pay roll already so that it will be deducted from your salary"



I was happy ehn. As if I was under a spell, I ran to the bank to pay oh.



He then sent a mail that I should quickly forward my CV to the mail
addy, arikair@yahoo.co.uk/amadiobi@yahoo.co.uk and I forwarded to my
friends (who had also paid the 20, 110)



It was then one of them that said 'ah han, babe, you sure this is not fake. Their mail addy should end with arikair eg amadiobi@arikair.com, major and big  organisations always have a customised mail id".



My heart sank.



And then the other one called and said 'babe that dude's number is no more going through o, you sure he is not fake ?'



So I called him, he picked and he said 'yeah I'm about going for a meeting, my secretary has seen your CV, your flight ticket has been sorted out, just go to the airport and wait at terminal too, someone will call you"



Right there a part of me said 'Babe this thing is fake' and while the other part said otherwise.



My other friend said 'Babe abeg, I'm not going to airport o, it's fake...you go ahead and tell me whatsup'



So I decided to find out....I went to the airport and when he called he
said "your flight is for 6:30pm, just hang around,one of the ticket
attendants will call you"



I waited till 6:15pm (then it dawned on me fully that I had been duped) I
sent him a text saying 'it's 6:15pm and no one has called me" he
called, apologized and assured that someone will.



I waited till 6:30pm and sent him another text, he didn't reply, I
called him and he didn't pick so I called my friends, apologized to them
and told them 'we have been scammed'



I laughed at my foolishness, and called a cab man to carry me home.



The annoying thing is that the 'dude' called around '7:15pm' and I still played calm and polite...he asked 'so where are you now?'



God knows if I had my way I would  have cursed him or something but I
kept calm and said 'I left the airport about 45minutes ago' and he said 'you what?????!!!' Like I had committed one big offence.



I cut the call, hissed and turned off my phone. I hope he doesn't call back!!!



It was while relaxing in the vehicle that I crafted this out. Yeah it's
just 20k and I hope to make a complaint at the bank to see if it can be
refunded but I learnt my lesson....so be contented with what you have (your job or whatever you have at hand) and don't be greedy.

2013 BloggersLab Get Together Holds 27th December at Ikeja, Lagos

BloggersLab; a top Facebook group for bloggers, is organizing a get-together for Nigerian bloggers to meet one on one this festive season. The 2013 Nigerian Bloggers get-together has been scheduled to take place on the 27th of Dec, 2013, at ANTLEAD HALL, No 38 Toyin Street , Ikeja, Lagos. This will be the third BloggersLab meet-up since it's inception in 2011.





If you attend the event, you will be able to meet fellow bloggers one on one, network, rub minds together and probably share ideas. You will surely end up learning new things and you will also have the opportunity to share your expertise with fellow bloggers. You can click here to check out review of the 2012 meet-up.

Gate Fee is N2,000.



Why?



We have to pay for the hall we want to use. At Bloggers Lab, we agreed that anyone interested should be able to pay N2, 000. The fee will take care of the money for the venue as well as refreshment.

Linda Ikeji's Blog 1 Million Naira Giveaway

Linda Ikeji, the owner of Nigeria's Number 1 Entertainment blog, Linda Ikeji Blog, has announced that she will be giving out N100, 000 each to 10 readers of her blog, this weekend to show appreciation for their support in 2013.





Although, she has penciled down one of the top readers but she is still trying to find out from her blog followers, how to select the remaining 9 lucky readers or probably suggest names. This has generated over 5300 comments on the post and still counting..

The gesture is somehow like an investment and without doubt, it will drive more traffic to her blog as well as increase revenue and engagement on her blog in the long run.



No matter what, I am impressed. It is a fantastic way of rewarding her blog followers.



I hope OgbongeBlog grows so big like her blog very soon, so I can also compensate my blog followers with such a big gift or won't it make sense? :)

What Happened To The Blog and Other Things You Need To Know

If you are a regular visitor to this blog, you will definitely be wondering why the desktop version of the blog was inaccessible for over one month. Well, it's something I wasn't prepared for, hence the reason why I couldn't get the blog back online within few days. So glad and thankful to God to see it restored on Tuesday because not all Blogger users are lucky to have their blogs re-instated after been removed.





You can read the full gist of what happened here and how it was restored. You should also read the challenges you might face if you wait for blogger to delete your blog before moving to WordPress.





During the downtime, OgbongeBlog emerged the winner of 2013 OYAA Awards's Best Online Media On Technology in Nigeria. You can read more about it and check out the photos here.

On the other side, the organizers of Nigerian Blog Awards couldn't list the blog as a nominee for the 2013 Awards because the blog was offline when they were carrying out a final check on the nominated blogs.  Painful but life goes on...



As you can see, the blog is now having a new look. The night I finished working on the new look was when the blog disappeared.



The desktop version is now responsive i.e the blog design “responds” to the size of the browser display in which it is being viewed. I changed the homepage design to magazine style and also re-arranged the sidebar. I hope to share the tutorials with you in the long run.
