How To Receive Email Newsletters in Primary Tab of GMail Inbox

GMail Tabs is a filtering system that allows GMail users to sort their mail into categories like Primary, Social, Promotions, Updates and Forums. If you've enabled it, you might have noticed that email newsletters you subscribe to, typically arrive in the "Promotions" tab by default instead of the "Primary"inbox.





As a result of this, you're likely to miss some important newsletters if you don't always check the "Promotions" tab for new emails.



If you've subscribed to an email list and won't want to miss the newsletters, you can adjust the Gmail Tabs settings to deliver an email newsletter to the primary tab in 2 easy steps.



STEP 1



==> Go to the "Promotions" tab, find the email you want to move to the "Primary" tab, right-click on it (without opening the email) and click : "Move to tab > Primary"

STEP 2



==> Click Yes when offered the option to “always deliver sender@domain.com” to Primary.

That's all.



Repeat as needed for other favourite email newsletters that deliver to Gmail Tab’s Promotions tab by default.

How I BackUp FireFox Bookmarks and Transfer To Another Computer

Mozilla Firefox allows you to store Web pages you visit often as bookmarks. Firefox automatically creates backups of your bookmarks and saves the last ten backups for safekeeping. Nevertheless, you can generate your own bookmark backup file manually and do anything you like with it.





Earlier today, I was able to save Firefox bookmarks on my laptop and restore the bookmarks on my new laptop. So, this makes it very easy for me to access the bookmarks on my old PC on the new PC. So, in this post, I've decided to share with you, how I was able to do that.



How To Get Started



==> Launch the Firefox browser on your PC

==> Click the Bookmarks icon

==> Scroll down and click "Show All Bookmarks" to open the Library window







==> In the Library window, click the "Import and Backup" button

==> Click "Export Bookmarks to HTML..."

==> Choose a location to save the file, which is named "bookmarks" by default. The desktop is usually a good spot, but any place that is easy to remember will work.



==> Save the file and close the Library window.

How To Transfer Firefox Bookmarks To Another Computer

You can use a bookmark backup file from one computer and restore it on another computer.



So, place the bookmark backup file created earlier on your transfer media (e.g. a Flash drive) and copy it to the desktop (or any location) of the other computer.



Next is to go to Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks  and click the "Import and Backup" button



Then, click "Import Bookmarks to HTML...."



After importing the backup file you created earlier, your bookmarks from that file will be restored. Close the Library window.



That's all.



NB:



Restoring bookmarks from a backup will overwrite your current set of bookmarks with the ones in the backup file.



If you use the "BackUp" option, it will create a JSON file which might not be detectable by the other PC. So, use the "Export bookmarks to html..." option as recommended in this post.

Few months back, I stumbled on my Free Blogger Guide on free-ebooks.net while downloading some free ebooks from the site. I clicked on the Author link only to discover that it was not pointing to my free-ebooks.net profile.



That same day, I submitted a ticket, requesting for the ebook to be moved to my profile. Few hours later, I received a reply that such will only be possible if I can verify ownership of the ebook.

In this tutorial, I will explain how to place 300x250 ad banner under header of Blogger mobile view. The banner can be Google adsense ad, an affiliate program banner or a personal advert banner to promote your products and services. So, I expect you have saved the code for the banner somewhere.



You can increase your Adsense earnings by placing a 300x250 ad banner under your blog header section as explained in this post.

To get started, sign in to your Blogger account via www.blogger.com

==>  Go to your blog dashboard,click on "Template".

How To Change Twitter Username Without Losing Followers and Tweets

If you've realized that you need a different Twitter handle, probably a shorter one or a more professional one, you can easily change the Twitter username without losing followers and your tweets.



Changing your username will not affect your existing followers, direct messages, or @replies. Your followers will simply see a new username next to your profile photo when you update.



Although, you could just get a new account, but this would mean building up a list of followers from scratch, and you’d lose all your tweets.



So, if you want to change your Twitter handle without losing followers and tweets, follow me through the steps below:



==> Log in to Twitter.com

==> Click on your avatar in the top right corner and click on "Settings".

==> On your account settings page, change the username listed in your username field.

==> Click "Save changes" button at the bottom of the page.



I recommend keeping your old username as a "forwarding page" to your new account - but with zero followers.



This means that as soon as you change the username, you should log out, then create a new Twitter account with the old username, using a new email address. Ensure you get this done before someone else does.



Once you’ve created the new account, fill in your bio and tell people that you have changed your name. Just insert something like, “This is my old username. I’ve updated my username to @NewUsername, so follow me there!”



Thereafter, send a tweet from the old account something like, “Hi guys, I've changed my username to @newUsername, you can follow me there!”



Now if anyone stumbles upon your old profile, they will see the link to your new account!

How To Detect Hidden Camera With Mobile Phone and Camera Detectors

As technology advances, privacy is getting vanished. So, it's no more news that hidden cameras are now been planted in some locations. If you frequently make use of hotel rooms, trial rooms, changing rooms etc, then the chance of getting spotted by a hidden camera is very high. In this blog post, I've decided to share with you, how to detect a hidden camera with your cell phone and camera detectors.

How To Detect Hidden Camera With Mobile Phone

1. When you are in a private room, turn off the lights, and close the curtains. Launch your phone camera but do not turn the flash light on. Turn around the room with your cell phone. When tiny red or green LED light is found, that means that a hidden microphone or camera is installed. If no LED light, the room is OK.

2. Place a call on your cell phone, then wave the device around where you think there might be a hidden camera or microphone. If you can hear a clicking noise on the call, it means your phone might be interfering with an electromagnetic field.

If you can’t make a call there is a chance of a hidden camera too. The scientific explanation behind this phenomena is “interference of fiber optic cable during the signal transfer”.

3. Launch the flashlight of your smartphone and carefully examine books, clocks, air purifiers, lamps etc. If you notice any pinhole-sized holes, you might have a hidden camera in the room.

How to detect hidden camera behind mirror

Launch the flashlight of your smartphone and shine it directly onto a wall mounted mirror. Take the flashlight and move it progressively closer to the mirror until it touches the mirror. If you can see through the mirror, or notice the light shining through it, you have a one-way mirror, and possibly a hidden camera behind it. A mirror should always reflect light, not allow the light to penetrate through it.

Using Hidden Camera Detectors

 

Alternatively, you can buy hidden camera detectors. That's much better than searching for minuscule cameras hidden somewhere among the hundred possible places in the room. These portable devices are of different types, small and simple to use. 



You can hold one of them up to your eye, and look around the room. When it finds a camera, you'll see the light reflection from the cameras LED. Another one vibrates when you're close in close vicinity to a hidden camera. Others give off flashing lights or beeping sounds when you sweep specific objects that contain hidden cameras.

How To Use Skitch

Earlier, I published a post on what Skitch app is, the features and the Skitch download link. In this post, I've decided to share with you, how to use Skitch tools on Windows PC.



Once you understand how to use it, you will be able to put it into use in different ways. You can use it to edit and annotate images you use in your blog posts. You can use it for images in your ebook. I even read how Jamie used it in the process of digitizing his house.

Once you launch Skitch for Windows, it opens directly into the Skitch Editor. From here you can capture a new image  using "Screen Snap" or annotate an image.

The Skitch toolbar features annotation tools you can use to add new annotations to your Skitch Note.

Annotating your image is easy. Just click any of the annotation tools on the toolbar, select a color and start annotating. I will explain briefly, how to use some of the Skitch tools.

The Arrow tool lets you easily point out an exact spot or item as seen in the screenshot above. To use this tool, click the arrow icon. Then, Click and drag to the spot on the image you want the arrow to point.


The Draw tool allows you to freehand draw with digital ink, while the Highlight tool allows you to add a transparent color overlay. To use this tool, click the Draw and Highlighter icon to show the available tools.

Click the Draw icon to freehand draw on the image, or the Highlighter icon to highlight anything with a transparent ink. With either tool, click and drag the cursor over the image to draw with digital ink.

The Pixelate tool is perfect for blurring portions of images that need to be kept anonymous, such as faces or other personally identifiable information. To use this tool, click the Pixelate icon. A cross-hair will be displayed. Click and drag the cross-hair over the area you want to pixelate.

To resize an image using the Crop & Resize tool, click the Crop & Resize icon. The Crop & Resize screen will be displayed. Select Resize Mode from the drop-down in the lower-left corner of the screen. Use the Resize slider at the bottom-center of the screen to change the size of the entire image. Then click the Apply button.

The Stamp tool lets you quickly add simple sentiments like, "Yes," "No," or "Approved" to an image with images and a bit of text.

Imageresize.org is a picture resizing website I use alot and I've decided to share it with you today. The site simply lets anyone crop, resize image online for FREE i.e you can crop a photo and decrease or increase image size online. 





Whenever an advertiser sends me an advert banner that is bigger than the required size, I use the site to make the image smaller. The site can be helpful too whenever you want to make picture smaller size before uploading it to Facebook, Twitter etc.

How To Resize Image Online

==> Go to : http://www.imageresize.org

==> If the image you want to resize is on your computer, click on "browse" to select it and Click "upload" when you are done.
==> If the image is somewhere on the web, click the "From Web" tab, enter the URL of the image and click "Fetch"

Once the image is loaded onto the dashboard, you will see the options to crop or resize the image. Now, let's assume you want to resize the image to 300x250.

==> From the "Change Resize Image To" dropdown box, select "Custom Size"
==> Untick "Preserve Aspect ratio"
==> Change the width to 300 pixels
==> Change the height to 250 pixels
==> Select your desired image format
==> Click "Process Image"

You will be redirected to a page displaying your resized image.

Right-click on the image and select Save image as to save or use the Fb share button to share it on Facebook.

How To Merge Facebook Pages Into One

If you are an admin of multiple Facebook Pages that represent the same thing, you may be able to merge them. Merging Pages combines all your likes and check-ins into one Page. Merging Pages combines all your likes and check-ins, but all other content such as posts, photos and the username will be permanently deleted from the Page you merge.





The Pages that you merge must be about the same thing. If it's not clear that your Pages represent the same thing, they can't be merged.



Examples of acceptable merge requests:

"Jide Ogunsanya NigerianBlogger" into "Jide Ogunsanya Nigerian Blogger"

"Blogging Tips by Jide" into "Blogging Tips by Jide Ogunsanya"

 Examples of merge requests that require a 14-day waiting period:

"Facebook" into "Facebook Chat"

"Jide Ogunsanya" into "Jide Ogunsanya's Blogging Service"

 Examples of merge requests that can't be processed:

"Fans of Jide" into "Jide"

So, How Do I Join Facebook Pages Together?



==> Log in to your Facebook account as yourself and not your page

==> Click Settings at the top of the Page you want to keep

==> Click "General"

==> Click the "Edit" link next to "Merge Pages"

==> Click Request to merge duplicate Pages

==> Fill out the form and click "Send".



If successful, you will see this:

Thereafter, keep calm till you get feedback from Facebook.

Unable To Find "Merge Pages" Option On Settings Page?

If you don't see the option to merge your Pages, it means that your Pages can't be merged at this time.



Neverthesless,you can try to submit a request at : https://www.facebook.com/help/contact/?id=238908726149664



Right there, you will have options to select the Page you want to keep and also select up to 5 Pages you’d like to merge into your destination Page.



That's all.



NB: You can only merge Pages that you manage. Do not submit duplicate requests because you might have to wait for 14 days as stated earlier. So, just chill.

How to Easily Setup Twitter Cards for Your Blogger Blog

Few days ago, I wrote an article on the 3 Easy Steps to Setup Twitter Cards for Your WordPress Blog but I had the intention of doing the same for Blogger blogs immediately. I was just reminded of that by a commentator on the post. If your blog is on the blogger platform, you will find here how to easily setup Twitter Cards for your blog.

Twitter cards is one of the ways you can use to generate more views for your blog and your blog posts. With Twitter Cards, you can attach rich photos, videos and media experience to Tweets that drive traffic to your website. Simply add a few lines twitter meta tags to your blog, and users who Tweet links to your content will have a “Card” added to the Tweet that’s visible to all of their followers.



There are 7 types of Twitter Cards



Summary Card: Default Card, including a title, description, thumbnail, and Twitter account attribution.

Summary Card with Large Image: Similar to a Summary Card, but with a prominently featured image.

Photo Card: A Card with a photo only.

Gallery Card: A Card highlighting a collection of four photos.

App Card: A Card to detail a mobile app with direct download.

Player Card: A Card to provide video/audio/media.

Product Card: A Card optimized for product information.





You can setup any of the Twitter Cards the same way. You just need to select which one you want while setting the Twitter cards.







Here is an example of the Twitter Card for this post.

Here is how to easily setup Twitter Cards for your blog.



1. Edit your template to add the Twitter card metadata. 

Login to your Blogger account and go to Template > Edit HTML 

2. Click within the Template Editor and press Ctrl + F to search within the template for </head> and paste the below code just above that . You will have to modify the @mmonigeria in the below code with the name of the twitter account you use for your blog. The second @mmonigeria should be changed to the name of the blog author’s twitter account. Make sure you save your template after pasting.

- twitter:card -> should be the type of Twitter Card you want

- twitter:site -> The Twitter username of the owner of this card’s domain.

- twitter:title -> The title of your content as it should appear in the card.

- twitter:description -> A description of the content in a maximum of 200 characters.

- twitter:creator -> If the content of this card was authored by someone, include their Twitter username here.

- twitter:image:src -> A URL to the image representing the content.

- twitter:domain -> your blog’s domain name.





4. Click “Update Preview” after inputting the above twitter settings. If all looks fine, apply for approval by clicking on the “Validate & Apply” tab. Enter the URL of the post and click on “Go”. After validation, you can then request for the final approval for your card. You will get email when Twitter approves your request. This can be immediate or can take like 48 hours.





This is all you need to do to setup Twitter cards for your blog. You can monitor the traffic generated by the Twitter card via your Twitter analytics. Once approved, all your posts which have an image and description will start showing twitter cards when you or anyone else shares your post to twitter. So, it is important that while making a blogger post, you should add a "Search Description" and an added an image to the post. If you don’t do any of these, the post won’t display a twitter card.

How To Save Facebook Links In News Feed To Read Later On FB

Facebook, the world’s largest social network has announced the launch of a new feature, tagged "SAVE". The Facebook SAVE feature simply allows Web, Android and iOS users to save links, places, music and other things while browsing Facebook News Feed, to a list where they can view them later.





So, anytime you find all sorts of interesting items on Facebook that you don't have time to explore right away, you can now save them to check them out later when you have more time. If you use the feature to save for later on Facebook, only you can see the things you save and you can choose if you want to share them.



You can view the items you saved at any time by going to your saved items in the “More” tab on mobile or by clicking the link on the left hand side of Facebook on the web. Your saved items list is organized by category and you can share each item with your friends or move it into your archive list. Right there you can as well delete each saved item.

How To Save on Facebook

To save something you see on Facebook (links, places, music, books, movies and TV shows), tap the Save icon or choose the Save option in the menu on posts in News Feed to save it for later.

From News Feed, click on Saved in the navigation links.

Instead, you will have to host your image outside of reddit, and then add the image link to your comment or text posts at reddit. Although, you can use any image hosting service, Imgur is Reddit’s Favorite Photo-Hosting Startup.





Imgur makes sharing images with the Internet simple. It makes it very easy to get pictures on the Internet as quickly as possible while also allowing you to easily link to the pictures. It requires no sign up, hence you can upload a picture and no one will ever know who posted it.



If you want to submit a picture to reddit using imgur, follow me through the steps below:



==> Go to www.imgur.com and you should see "Upload Images". Click the "Computer" option to upload image from your PC or the "Web" option to use a picture somewhere on the web.



==> Alternatively, you can click the "Arrow" in the upper left hand corner of imgur screen (beside the logo). Clicking on the arrow will bring up a window similar to the screenshot below:

==> Whichever method you use to select the image, you should have a new window with a thumbnail of your image on the bottom. Click the button "Start Upload" to start your upload.

==> A screen should come up showing the progress, and if the upload is successful, you'll automatically be directed to your image page. Right there, you can copy the "Markdown link" of the image.

==> Now head on back to reddit.com and paste the "markdown link" in your self post or comment. Edit the [Imgur] part of the link with what you want your link to say.



eg I can format [Imgur](http://i.imgur.com/rBNn2Uw.jpg) to become [Picture of Penguins](http://i.imgur.com/rBNn2Uw.jpg) in my comment.

If you wish to submit the image to a subreddit as a link post, go to that subreddit, and click the button on the sidebar labeled "Submit a Link". Put in your title, and paste in the Image link i.e http://i.imgur.com/rBNn2Uw.jpg (instead of "Mardown link") and click "Submit".

50 subreddits are visible on reddit homepage to new registered users as well as those that browse the site without registration. By default, new users are subscribed to a selection of the most popular subreddits. You can unsubscribe from them if you want and you can use the search function on the site to find new subreddits that appeal to you. Every subreddit on reddit starts when a redditor creates it. The creator becomes the first subscriber and the first moderator of the new subreddit. The moderators of each community decide how to moderate and who to include on their moderation team.

Enter a name without spaces eg BlogsInNigeria. Give it a title and description. Set the content and spam filter options and click "Create".



Subreddits created by you will be visible on your profile at reddit.com.

How To Have Multiple YouTube Channels On One Account

Before now, promoting all my sites on YouTube was very stressful. Imagine having to create a separate Google account for every YouTube channel for my sites; which also means I have to sign in and sign out of my Google accounts for me to switch channels.





Now that YouTube integrates with Google+, you no longer have to go through such stress. You can now create up to 50 YouTube channels under one Google account and you can now use YouTube Channel switcher to switch from one channel to another without signing out of your Google account.



For you to make multiple YouTube channels on one account, all you just need to do is to ensure you have created Google+ page for all the channels you want to manage with a single Google account; and of course you must use the single Google account to create all the Google+ pages.



Once you've created the Google+ pages, sign in to www.youtube.com with the Google account you want to use to manage all the channels.



Thereafter, go to https://www.youtube.com/channel_switcher



Right there, click on the Google+ page you want to use as YouTube Channel (Under "other Options")

Clicking on it should bring up a popup window similar to the screenshot below:

Click "OK"



You will see another pop up similar to the one below:

Click "OK"



Wait for some seconds.



Once successful, you might see a prompt to select the channel you want to use. Select as desired.



That's all.



The URL of the new channel will be long. I will show you how to shorten it to something very simple in my next post.

==> You can always switch from one channel to another without signing out, using the YouTube Channel Switcher.



==> If you want to add admins to the channels, add them as managers to the Google+ page used for creating the channel.



==> If you want to change the name and icon of the YouTube channels, you have to change them from the Google+ pages. This is because, once you’ve connected your YouTube channel with a Google+ page or profile: the name on your connected Google+ page or profile becomes your YouTube channel name everywhere (on videos, comments, your channel title, etc) and your Google+ page or profile photo becomes your YouTube channel icon. Google+ supports changing your name up to three times in two years. Please keep this in mind if you decide to edit your name.

How to Hide Tweets Of People You Follow Without Unfollowing Them

On Monday, Twitter announced the introduction of a new account feature called MUTE, to people who use Twitter iPhone and Android apps and twitter.com; a change I personally have been waiting for.





Mute is a feature that allows you to hide a user’s Tweets from your timeline without you having to unfollow them. When you mute a user on Twitter, their content will no longer be visible to you on your Timeline. Unlike blocking, the person can still follow you, interact with your tweets and can still send your direct messages.

How To Mute a Twitter user on Twitter.com:

Muting from a Tweet:

    ==> From a Tweet, click More at the bottom of the Tweet.

    ==> Click Mute.



Muting from a profile:



    ==> Go to the profile page of the person you wish to mute.

    ==> Click the gear icon  on their profile page. This brings up a drop-down actions menu.

    ==> Select Mute from the options listed.



Once you’ve muted a user on the web, you will see a confirmation banner. If you made a mistake, you can click Undo to unmute a user right away.

How To mute a Twitter user via Twitter iOS and Android Apps

Muting from a Tweet:



    ==> Tap a Tweet from the user you’d like to mute.

    ==> Tap the the three dots at the bottom-right corner of the tweet.

    ==> Tap "Mute..." and confirm.



Muting from a profile:



    ==> Visit the profile page of the user you wish to mute.

    ==> Tap the gear icon.

    ==> Tap Mute and confirm.



When you visit the profile of a user you have muted, you will see the red mute icon. You can click on the red mute icon to unmute the user.



NB:  When you mute a user, their previous Tweets will still be displayed; only Tweets from the point you muted them will be hidden. @ replies and @ mentions from muted users you follow will still appear in your Notifications tab.
