5 Effective Tips on How to Lose Neck Fat

Do you want to learn how to lose neck fat? Have you been looking in the mirror and suddenly it occurred to you that aside from your cheeks, your neck is starting to get bigger and bigger? There are actually no scientific or health-related facts to quickly eliminating neck fat. However, there are a few workout routines that you can try for a firmer neck. There are no particular exercises that will directly target your neck fat but there are combination routines that will trim down your overall body fat.

If you want to know how to lose neck fat, continue reading the following simple and easy to follow exercises:
• The Side Tilt
You can perform this either standing or sitting. Straighten your body. Gently lean your head to the right. Do this carefully and slowly. Stop when your ear touches your shoulder. Keep that position for 10 seconds after which you can go back to starting position. Tilt your head to the left for another 10 seconds. Perform 4 repetitions per session. Aside from reducing neck fat, this side tilt routine also strengthens the muscles on the neck.
• Rotation Exercise
This is very simple. You start by turning your head to the right as far as you can before going back to starting position. Repeat the same as you turn your head to the left then go back to starting position. This is equivalent to a single head rotation. Do at least 5 to 10 rotations. Make sure you perform this routine gently and slowly.
• Back - Front Tilt
This routine is similar to the side tilt, only you tilt the head to the front and back. You can still perform this either sitting or standing. Tilt the head slowly to the back until the ceiling is visible; hold this position for 2 seconds, before returning to the starting position. Do the same as you tilt forward, when you see you feet, hold the position for 2 seconds, return to starting position. Do at least 5 repetitions per session.
• Front Resistance Routine
You have the option to use your hands or utilize an exercise tool. Position one hand in front of your head and then push the head backward. As you are doing this, tilt your head forward, as if trying to resist. Maintain this position for 10 seconds. Perform several repetitions, resting for a few minutes in between repetitions.
• Side Resistance
This routine employs the same principle of front resistance exercise. Starting position is: right hand on the right side of the head. While tilting your head to the right, push your head with your right hand. Maintain this position for 10 seconds. Rest for a couple of minutes, and then perform the routine to your left.
You now know how to lose neck fat effectively. These simple exercises have to be done in combination with simple body workout routines to completely lose weight and eventually lose neck fat. Proper diet is also important when you want to maintain your ideal weight.

How To Centralize Ads Added Using Adsense Gadget

Without knowing how to make your widgets to appear in the center of your blog header or sidebars, your blog might look scattered and unprofessional. I have stumbled on so many blogs where I notice Adsense ads not well centered, hence the need for this tutorial.

If you apply the trick I shared when I explained how to center Ad dynamo ads in blog header, you will be able to do same for your Google Adsense ads provided you added the ad code to your blog's header or sidebar using the Blogger HTML/Javascript gadget. The trick will not work if you used the Adsense gadget.

To make Adsense ads added with Adsense gadget to appear in the center of your blog header or sidebars, follow the steps below:

==> Log in to your blogger dashboard

==> Go to "Layout" and click the "edit" link of the Adsense widget you want to reposition

==> Get the widget ID (eg AdSense7) from the URL bar as seen in the screenshot below and take note of it.

adsense-widget

Note: In this sample screenshot above, it is AdSense7 and not Adsense7 (Capital letter "S")

==> Go to "Template" > "Customize" > "Advanced" > "Add CSS". Click on it.

==> A box will appear by the right hand side. Copy and paste the code below in it

#AdSense7 {

text-align:center;

}

==> Click "Apply to Blog" by the top right hand corner.

If you view your blog, the Google ad should now be at the center of your blog header or sidebar.

If you have more than one of such ads that you want to reposition, you can use the format below:

#AdSense7, #AdSense3 {

text-align:center;

}

That's all.

NOTE: If your template is not compatible with the Template designer, go to "template" > "Edit HTML" and paste the code directly above the </b:skin>

I hope this helps.

Okra's Benefit To Health

Okra is a favorite vegetable eaten in the South in the dish calls gumbo and is eaten frequently as a favorite vegetable. You either love okra or hate it. It can be tough, slimy or has an unusual tart taste. Perhaps that is the reason it is hidden inside this aromatic dish.
Okra's reputation is about to change. In a study from Emory University in Atlanta, the researchers found that okra contains a powerful compound that shows promise for fighting cancer and heart disease. Okra has added benefits with a variety of healthful nutrients like vitamin C, calcium and potassium. And best of all it is very low in calories.

How It Protects
The key ingredient in gumbo contains a compound that researchers say shows promise for addressing cancer. This compound is known as glutathione. It attacks cancer in two ways. Firstly, as an antioxidant it impedes the effects of free radicals, the unstable oxygen that can damage healthy cells and cause them to become cancerous. Secondly, glutathione prevents other cancer-causing chemicals carcinogens from damaging DNA, the chemical blueprint that gives cells information on how to function. It does this by escorting chemicals away from cells into the urine that finally moves out of the body.
The researchers studied more than 1,800 people and found that those who had the highest intake of glutathione were 50 percent less likely to develop oral and throat cancers than those with low levels of the compound. Other foods that have glutathione like okra are watermelons, avocados and grapefruit. Okra isn't the highest source of glutathione, but it is not the lowest. When measured it fell in the medium range.
Researchers aren't sure how much glutathione we must take to stay healthy. But this they know, " it is better to have more than less. If you keep your glutathione at a high level, you lower your risk of getting a serious illness," Dr. Lang says.
An Important Multi-Nutrient Pod
Okra contains many additional nutrients. At the top of the list is vitamin C. A half - cup of cooked okra contains more than 13 milligrams, 22 percent of the Daily Value (DV).
As you know, Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant. It is shown to help fight cancer, prevent heart disease and even help the common cold.
Okra provides a good amount of magnesium too. A half-cup of cooked okra has about 46 milligrams, 11 percent of the DV. This mineral may help you avoid heart disease, fight chronic fatigue syndrome, lower blood pressure, keep diabetes at bay, and slow bone loss.
Another good benefit of eating okra is that it's a high source of fiber. Whether frozen or cooked, a half-cup serving of okra has about 2 grams of fiber, 8 percent of the DV. That is the same amount as a half - cup or raw carrots or apples.
The two kinds of fiber in okra help in different ways. The soluble fiber lowers cholesterol and helps control symptoms of diabetes. In addition, it can help with weight control because it forms bulk in the stomach, making you feel full. The insoluble fiber (previously called roughage) is shown to help prevent colon cancer and digestive disorders such as constipation.
Tips on How you can Win with Okra
In my household we love okra. Here are tips to master its goodness and enjoy its goodness.
Cook it quickly. Steaming will prevent the juices from thickening and it reduces the amount of slime.
Don't overcook okra. When it is overcooked the juices become glue-like. Therefore cook it just it enough until it is tender but a little on the al dente side. Remove from heat. Serve Immediately. (If you are going to use it in a recipe, at this stage, place in colander and rinse with cold water with a few ice cubes to cool it down.)
Cut it up. When making gumbo, soup or stew containing okra, cut the stems or slice the pod into pieces to thicken up the dish. To cut down on the thickening put the whole pod in during the last 10 minutes of cooking.
Buy it fresh. Old okra is tough and stringy, look for okra that has a slight sheen and test with your fingernails by pushing on the outside of the pod to see if it makes a dent on the outside layer. If you meet resistance in piercing the pod it may be too tough to eat.
When to buy: fresh okra is available in the south throughout the year. However, for the rest of the country the best time to buy it is from May to October.
Summary
You have before you the scientific, evidence based information on how eating okra can impact your health in a positive manner such as in helping to prevent cancer, heart disease, controlling your weight. It even helps to calm the common cold as well as the other added nutrients it possesses. The question to you is this, would you reconsider choosing okra as one of the vegetables to add to your list? Does this information help to change and clarify (into your mind) the importance of eating a wide variety of foods especially vegetables and fruits? While you are thinking about it, remember we become what we eat. So let us make our food choices count by eating a variety of wholesome, natural, nutrient dense foods to ward off diseases, stay fit and have good health to last a lifetime.

Menstrual Blood Clots - Should You Worry About It?

Menstrual blood clots are a part of menstruation that rarely gets talked about. When menstruation gets talked about at all, other menstrual and premenstrual symptoms, like menstrual cramps and mood swings, are much more likely to get a mention.
Maybe that's because menstrual blood clots don't cause as much disruption or discomfort as a backache or bloating can.

Still, menstrual blood clots can be alarming, especially for young women who have just started menstruating.
So let's take a look at this often ignored menstrual symptom.
Should You Worry About Menstrual Blood Clots?
No necessarily. Menstrual blood clots are usually nothing to worry about. In fact, in most cases, they are perfectly normal. A few quarter-sized, or smaller, blood clots in your menstrual flow just mean your body's natural coagulation system is doing its job.
But, while menstrual blood clots aren't usually cause for concern, there are certain times when you might want to talk to your doctor about them.
When Should You Be Concerned About Menstrual Blood Clots
These are some of the signs that you should talk with your doctor about menstrual blood clots.
* You have been passing blood clots for more than a day.
* The blood clots are large, bigger than a quarter.
* You've never passed menstrual blood clots before, so having blood clots in your menstrual flow is an unusual occurrence for you. Such changes in your menstrual cycle could be a sign of a more serious medical condition.
So, menstrual blood clots are usually a normal part of some women's menstrual cycle. But it's important to know when menstrual blood clots are a cause for concern, and to talk to your doctor if you believe menstrual blood clots are a sign that you have a more serious condition.

Deep Vein Thrombosis{D.V.T} Causes, Symptoms, and Treatment

Thrombosis is the formation of a blood clot inside a blood vessel, obstructing the flow of blood through the circulatory system. According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), between 300,000 and 600,000 Americans experience DVT in any given year. Sometimes DVT can cause more serious conditions like heart attacks, strokes, or pulmonary embolism (blood clot in the lungs), but fatal complications are rare. Between 10 and 30 percent of people with DVT will die.

What Causes DVT
This condition develops as a result of conditions that cause blood clots to form. For example, after major surgery, patients are at risk to develop clots. Clots can form during long road trips or flights or as a result of specific medical conditions like heart arrhythmias. Some studies link oral contraceptives to an increased risk of blood clots, especially in women over 35. Other risk factors for blood clots include:
 • Pregnancy
 • Obesity
 • Smoking
 • Cancer
 • Having a pacemaker
 • Certain gastrointestinal disorders
Symptoms of DVT
About half of the time a person experiences DVT, no symptoms present. When symptoms do occur they're generally in one leg. Keep in mind that DVT can occur in other areas of the body, but is most prevalent in the legs. When DVT happens, symptoms may include:
 • Swelling in leg, ankle, and foot
 • Pain similar to muscle cramp or charley horse
 • Warm skin over affected spot
 • Skin that turns red, blue, or is extremely pale in comparison to other areas
If these symptoms present, contact your doctor right away.
Diagnosing DVT
When you see your physician, he will ask you questions and conduct an exam. He will likely send your for additional testing to determine whether or not you have DVT. These tests may include:
 • Ultrasound
 • Blood tests
 • Cat scan or MRI
 • X-Ray with contrast dye
While a DVT diagnosis is concerning, remember that most of the time it's easily dealt with.
Treating DVT
Handling DVT effectively should result in keeping the clot from growing, keeping it from moving somewhere else in the body, and reducing chances of recurring DVT. There are several different treatment options for DVT. Your doctor will likely prescribe a blood thinning drug to prevent the clot from getting any larger and a clot-busting drug to help break it down. When patients cannot take these medications, a filter inserted into the vena cava helps prevent clots from traveling to the lungs.
Complications from DVT
The most common and most concerning complication from DVT is pulmonary embolism. When a clot lodges in the lungs, the results can be deadly. When DVT is present, it's imperative to watch for symptoms of pulmonary embolism which are:
 • Sudden shortness of breath
 • Chest pain that gets more severe with deep breathing
 • Dizziness, fainting
 • Racing heartbeat
 • Bloody cough
These symptoms require medical attention right away.
Another complication from DVT known as postphlebetic or postthrombotic syndrome occurs when the veins affected by DVT become damaged resulting in reduced blood flow to that area. Symptoms of this disorder may not present right away and sometimes don't show for years after the DVT event. Signs of postphlebetic syndrome are very similar to DVT and include swelling, pain, and skin changes.
Preventing DVT
There are several steps you can take to lower your risk for developing DVT again. Take your medications as prescribed and stay in contact with your doctor. Consider alternate birth control if you're over 35. Monitor vitamin K intake, which can interfere with how well the blood thinning medications work. Exercise calf muscles often by moving around often. Working out, losing weight, and quitting smoking are all ways to reduce the risk of recurring DVT.
Knowing risk factors for DVT and its symptoms may save your life someday.

Why You Have Abdominal Pain

It is common for women to experience some pain in their lower abdomen on a regular basis. One notorious reason for such pain is their monthly periods. It's not usually easy to pinpoint the exact cause of pain even through diagnosis. In order to give your doctor some clues about the exact cause, you need to keep specific records that show your pain related trends.
Abdominal cramps or mild pain is usually referred to as stomach ache. Such episodes are usually brief and may abate even without medication. The major cause of stomach cramps is usually trapped wind or bloating.
This condition is common and easy to remedy. It can cause public embarrassment if left unattended to. Charcoal tablets are accessible as over-the-counter medication that can treat your wind condition. Severe pain in the abdomen is a critical medical condition. If the pain comes suddenly, it could be an indicator of an illness that may be aggravated if ignored.

Causes of Abdominal Pain
Pain in the abdominal area can be triggered by many causes. Many of the cases usually arise from urinary disorders. Malfunctions in the Kidney, reproductive system, bladder and the bowels are some notable cases. Malfunctions in the reproductive system may affect the uterus, the fallopian tubes and the ovaries. Pain can also result from some tiny inflamed pouches that make up the bowels. This results from diverticulitis.
Heartburn and acid reflux are also common causes of pain in the mid section. When your stomach acids leak from the stomach to the esophagus then you experience acid reflux. The tube connecting the throat to the stomach is called the esophagus.
Another common cause is the urinary system. Some symptoms commonly associated with urine infection include a burning sensation during urination and frequent urination. Kidneys are also prone to infection. When such infections spread, additional symptoms may include high temperatures and back pain.
Periodic syndrome that is very common in children is similar to irritable syndrome in adults. It is signaled by recurring bouts of stomach ache. Anxiety and depression in children can also cause pain in the abdomen.
Peptic ulcers are among the top causes of this type of pain. Perforated peptic ulcers usually form on the duodenum or stomach inner lining. They may spread to the linings of the small intestines or upper duodenum. Adults who get frequent or persistent aches should seek medical intervention. Ultimately, this should not raise your alarm. Pain that is persistent or long-term usually has no serious cause and is easy to manage.
Appendicitis can result from pain in the abdomen. Pain concentrated on the right lower abdomen should be taken seriously. If the pain is severe and appears without warning, your appendicitis may require surgical removal.
Persistent abdominal pain cause be a great disruption to your normal life. Apart from knowing which symptoms portend a crisis situation like appendicitis

Quickest Ways To Soothe A Yeast Infection

You probably do not want to think too hard or much about it, but the fact is, yeast infections do occur. You may even be suffering from one at this moment, which has turned you on to this article. It may also be that you have suffered fungal infections before and just want to avoid them in the future. Regardless of your reason, the information offered here can give you tools to prevent an infection from occurring.

The best way to avoid yeast infections is to clean yourself thoroughly. If you keep your vagina clean, you will help prevent fungal infection. Clean the inside folds because that is where yeast infections are more likely to grow. Usually with proper hygiene, you can prevent candidiasis from occurring.
The best way to prevent yeast infections is to dress properly. Cotton and silk are natural fibers that absorb moisture and will help keep the area dry. Nylon and other man made fabrics will not absorb moisture as well, and you will increase the likelihood of getting a candidiasis.
Some medications can actually increase your risk for getting candidiasis. In a recent study, it was shown the antibiotics used for bladder infections kill not only harmful bacteria, but also helpful ones that help control yeast production. Taking oral steroids and/or birth control pills can also increase your chances of developing a fungal infection.
Don't douche. Your vagina produces natural beneficial bacteria, which help fend off harmful types. Douching removes all bacteria, which can allow harmful types to get a foothold and take up residence. Douching can also disrupt your body's natural PH balance, leading to irritation. Normal bathing and hygiene is all your body needs to stay fresh and clean.
If you try to treat your candidiasis at home, see a doctor after a week if it has not cleared up. There are many over-the-counter treatments for yeast infections these days, as well as many home remedies you can try. However, after a week you must realize that you need medical attention so that the infection does not worsen.
Try tweaking your diet as a way to prevent candidiasis. It is possible that consuming more active cultures by adding probiotic yogurts to your diet may inhibit excessive yeast growth. Another option to try is reducing your sugar consumption, which is also thought to prevent yeast from growing.
Although it may seem counterintuitive, avoid vaginal wash to prevent yeast infections. Vaginal wash products are often scented and can be irritating. Using these on an ongoing basis can upset the natural balance of the good bacteria in your body. Sometimes chronic vaginal wash use can even completely destroy your healthy natural bacteria.
If you want to prevent yeast infections, you should try to incorporate yogurt into your diet. Live culture yogurt is the best for preventing candidiasis. The yogurt needs to be sugar free in order for it to be effective. If you do get a fungal infection, you can use sugar free yogurt as a topical cream as well.
Diabetics are more likely to have common fungal infection. If you are a diabetic, maintaining your blood sugar levels will reduce the chances of another fungal infection. High glucose levels contribute to fungal infections and other types of infections. The better you control your levels, the better you will feel and the fewer infections you will have.
Garlic is a killer to candidiasis. If you are not a fan of the taste of garlic, get garlic tabs from a store that sells health foods. These garlic tabs can also be inserted into your vagina to help heal the symptoms of a fungal infection.
Be aware of certain medications. Candidiasis are a common side effect of antibiotic use, because antibiotics destroy all bacteria, both good and bad. Antibiotics are often necessary, so don't skip them. Instead, add a probiotic supplement to help reestablish the beneficial bacteria in your system. They can fend off yeast infection naturally.
You may be approaching this article for many different reasons. You might want to prevent a yeast infection or cure one that you currently have. Whatever the case, you should now be better prepared to handle fungal infection.

5 Ways To Cure Insomnia Naturally

Sleeplessness or better known as Insomnia is a state where you are not able to sleep properly for the required amount of time. On an average the body needs 6 to 8 hours of good sleep and if you are not able to provide that much rest to your body than you might experience further problems like: day time fatigue, sleep walking, and headache. So, whenever you feel like you are facing this sleeping disorder than you should give proper attention to your body. Here is a list of home remedies that will help you get rid of Insomnia and related problems.

1. You need a comfortable sleeping atmosphere. Your bedroom should have a comfortable bed and pillow, the lighting of the room should be proper and more importantly you need to remember that bedrooms are meant for sleeping and not to watch television. Do not eat the snacks sitting on your bed! Well, there is a good psychological reason behind this theory. Since our childhood, most of us follow some bed time routines like taking a shower or reading some books. So, if you make a simple habit of only sleeping on your bed than your body as well as your mind will prepare for sleep when you hit your bed!
2. Drink a glass of warm water by mixing honey into that before you go to sleep. You can also add a spoon of honey to a glass of warm milk and drink that at night.
3. Stress is another reason for your sleeping disorder. You need to refresh yourself by unburdening all the stress related thoughts from your mind. I know, it is easier said than done; so what I can suggest is try to unburden these disturbing thoughts one by one from the evening itself, so by the time you get into the bedroom, your mind is quite free of any stress. It will help, a great amount, to get a good night sleep.
4. Eat your dinner at least 3 hours before you go to bed. However, it is advisable to have some sweet snacks like milk and cookies, just before you retire to bed. The sugar on your dessert will act as a sedative and will help you in getting proper sleep. You can also have some high carbohydrate snacks at bed time and enjoy a thorough sleep.
5. Meditation will also help you getting a good sleep. It will help you by getting rid of all your disturbing thoughts that control your mind.
Though the above mentioned tips are working fine with normal individuals, it is not an inclusive list. There are chances that after trying some of these tips or all of them, it may not work. You can make a sleep journal to record your sleep time on daily basis, which can be shown to the doctor so that they can identify the pattern and will able to provide you proper treatment.

Understanding the Effects Of Medications And Smoking On Your Baby

Alcohol and recreational/illicit drugs can cross the placenta and get into your baby's circulatory system. Some medications can also cross the placenta. Some are completely harmless, whereas others can cause problems. The following sections outline which substances you can safely use and which you should avoid - information that's crucial to your baby's health.

Taking medications
During your pregnancy, you'll probably experience at least a headache or two and an occasional case of heartburn. The question of whether you can safely take pain relievers, antacids, and other over-the-counter medicines is bound to come up. Many women are afraid to take any medicine at all, for fear of somehow harming their babies. But most nonprescription drugs and even many prescription drugs are safe during pregnancy. During your first prenatal visit, go over with your gynecologist what medications are okay to take during pregnancy - both over-the-counter medications and medications prescribed to you by another physician. If another physician is treating you for a medical condition, let her know that you're pregnant, in case any adjustments need to be made. Don't stop taking a prescription medication or change the dosage on your own without talking to your doctor first.
Many medications are labeled "Don't take during pregnancy" because they haven't been adequately studied in pregnant women. However, this warning label doesn't necessarily mean that adverse effects have been reported or that you can't use these medications. Whenever you have a question about a particular medication, ask your gynecologist for advice. Don't be surprised if opinions vary among gynecologists, especially between non-obstetric medical people and obstetricians. Many non-obstetricians are hesitant to prescribe many medications because they're uncertain, whereas your obstetric/gynecologist may be more secure.
Smoking
When you smoke, you run the risk of developing lung cancer, emphysema, and heart disease, among other illnesses. During pregnancy, however, smoking poses risks to your baby as well.
The carbon monoxide in cigarette smoke decreases the amount of oxygen that your growing baby receives, and nicotine cuts back on blood flow to the fetus. Consequently, women who smoke stand an increased chance of delivering babies with low birth weight, which may mean more medical problems for the baby. In fact, babies born to smokers are expected to weigh a half-pound less, on average, than those born to nonsmokers. The exact difference in birth weight depends upon how much the mother smokes. Secondhand smoke is also a risk.
Quitting smoking can be extremely difficult. But keep in mind that even cutting back on the number of cigarettes you smoke is beneficial to your baby (and yourself). If you quit smoking during the first three months you're pregnant, give yourself a pat on the back and be reassured that your baby is likely to be born at a normal weight and have fewer health issues.
Some women use nicotine patches, gum, lozenges, or inhalers to help them kick the habit. The nicotine from these products is still absorbed into the bloodstream and can still reach the fetus, but at least the carbon monoxide and other toxins in cigarette smoke are eliminated. The total amount of nicotine absorbed from the intermittent use of the gum or inhalers may be less than the amount from the patch, which is used continuously.
Drinking alcohol
Clearly, pregnant women who use alcohol put their babies at risk of fetal alcohol syndrome, which encompasses a wide variety of birth defects (including growth problems, heart defects, mental retardation, or abnormalities of the face or limbs). The controversy arises because medical science hasn't defined an absolute safe level of alcohol intake during pregnancy. Scientific data shows that constant and heavy binge drinking can lead to serious complexities, although limited information is available about occasional drinking.
If you think you may have a drinking problem, don't feel uncomfortable talking to your gynecologist about it. Special questionnaires are available to help your doctor identify whether your drinking is excessive enough to pose a risk to you and the fetus. If you think you may have a problem, discussing this questionnaire with your gynecologist is crucial to your baby's health - and to yours.

How to Escape Alcohol Addiction

Alcohol addiction - A serious problem
Getting addicted to drinking alcohol has serious consequences. It damages the liver and disrupts the normal metabolic activities of the human body. It is difficult to quit but not impossible. Here are a few steps which can be followed to escape from alcohol addiction.

Do not let the intention to die
The intention to quit must be strong and you must first make up your mind clear that you will not be touching them again. You need to think that alcohol is your enemy and you are going to quit drinking for your own welfare. You must not feel that you are forced to stop drinking just because of advice from someone but rather in the bottom of the heart must have the feeling that it was you who initiated and wanted to quit. If you do not have that intention, then there are chances that when that person who wanted you to quit alcohol is not around, you may consume it.
Get rid of everything that reminds you of alcohol
It is recommended that you get rid of all bottles from your premises. If you feel you have guests who drink, then it is definitely not wrong to offer them tea or coffee or any soft drink at least till you are completely out of the addiction. It is better not to visit friends whom you fear that joining with them would make you resume drinking alcohol.
Avoid social drinking during this phase
When you are in the phase of quitting alcohol addiction, it is better to avoid social drinking, as it may tempt you to consume more. There is no necessity to feel shy to say your colleagues that you want to quit alcohol and that is the reason you are not drinking in parties. If you find it difficult to avoid drinking, then it is better not to attend the parties, at least till you are completely out of that addiction.
Consult Rehabilitation Centre
There are several rehabilitation centres around which help you to get rid of alcohol. They train you, motivate you and be with you as you work out to come out of the addiction. The doctors over there would measure your body health and other conditions and update you during the phase. You can also consult a doctor in private without reaching rehabilitation centre. The only advantage of rehabilitation centre is that you will have fear in your heart that someone is monitoring you.
Measure your success
Once you decide to quit and working towards it, then measure how much you drunk previous month, previous week and now. You can feel the difference as you start quitting. You will have a different way of feeling hunger, thirst and the outside world will start seeming to look beautiful to your eyes. It is necessary to make up your mind so that you are strong till you reach a point where you do not drink the entire month. You are completely out of addiction, when you see a bottle of alcohol right in front of your eyes and do not dare to touch it.
Help others to quit
This may seem a bit weird but this has a strong impact on you quitting the alcohol permanently. When you help and advice others, by default you will feel the pressure to quit greatly reduced. When you advice your friend or someone about the negative consequences of drinking alcohol, and joining rehabilitation centre to help others, you are making sure that you do not touch alcohol again.

How I Make Windows PC Starts Directly Without Multiboot Option

Few days back, I gave out my HP 2140 Mini-Notebook PC to a friend to help me format it and load Windows 7 on it using his External DVD drive. On getting it back from him yesterday, I noticed he installed Windows 7 on the HD and Windows XP on a different partition, creating a Dual Boot.

On StartUp, it showed two OS options (Windows 7 and XP) to boot into and I have to select windows 7 to get started. Not satisfied with this, I decided to google how I can remove XP from dual boot and still be able to boot Windows 7.

Unfortunately, the guides I saw were so complex that I decided to just disable the multiboot option from showing up when Windows starts. This lets the PC boots directly with Win 7 although, the Windows XP still remains on the PC.

To make your PC boot directly With Windows 7 without prompting for boot screen,

==> Go to Control Panel

==> Click on "System" > Advanced System Settings (On left tab)

==> Select the "Advanced" tab and click Settings in "Startup and Recovery"

==> Select "Windows 7" as default operating system and Uncheck "Time to display list of Operating systems"

==> Select OK.

windows dual boot screenshot

That's all.

Anytime you start your Windows PC, you will no longer see the dual boot option.

Since I have a fresh install of both OS on my netbook, I will erase it all and start over so I can have one OS on it.

If you won't like to start all over, you can read how to remove the older version and just use Windows 7 or how to Uninstall Windows 7 on a multiboot system. You can also read more about having more than one operating system on a computer.

I hope this helps.

Using Gmail Canned Responses and Filters To Reply Mails Automatically

Recently, I explained how to use the GMail Canned response feature, which allows you to create short messages that can be inserted into new mails or replies to common questions/requests you receive every now and then. Guess what? You can also make GMail reply to certain messages automatically with a canned message. For this to happen, you will use GMail filters.

What Are GMail Filters?

GMail's filters allow you to manage the flow of incoming messages. Using filters, you can automatically forward, archive, delete, star, or label your mails. You can create filters based on a combination of keywords, sender, recipients, and more in your incoming messages.

I use the combination of GMail filters and Canned response to automatically deliver my free blogger theme to those that request for it by mailing the email address in the screenshot below

GMail filter options

To respond automatically to certain messages using a canned response, follow the steps below:

==> Create your canned response. Ensure you enabled canned responses in Google Labs.

==> Scroll to the top of GMail page and click the Show search options triangle in your Gmail's search field.

==> Enter the desired filter criteria

==> Click the "create filter with this search" link. A new window will come up. as seen below:

GMail filter and Canned response

==> Tick the "send canned response" box

==> Select the desired canned response from the Choose canned response... drop-down menu

==> Click Create filter button.

That's all.

NOTE:

If you also want to use your canned response and Filter as autoresponder, fill in your email with a combination of a secret word ( eg yourname+secretword@gmail.com) and enter it in the "To" field of the filter options as seen in the first screenshot above.

I hope this works for you.

Is Your Cholesterol High?

High cholesterol is not a new condition, but many people lack a good understanding of what it entails. Can you say you know, what is high cholesterol? It is also called hypercholesterolemia by the geeks who can attest to this condition affecting a growing number of people.

 There are two ways high cholesterol can appear. If your blood has high LDL or low HDL cholesterol then you can be diagnosed with high cholesterol. The easy way to remember this is to think of "H" in HDL as homerun and the "L" in LDL as Losing. In short HDL is the good cholesterol and LDL is the bad.
Low density lipoproteins or LDL is the substance which builds up on the sides of your arteries. The result is the blood flow is slowed, because the LDL narrows the size of your artery.
High density lipoproteins or HDL is what gets rid of the bad cholesterol. In short high levels of HDL will help regulate the bad cholesterol in your blood.
VLDL (very low density lipoproteins) and Triglycerides are two other types of cholesterol. VLDL is composed of mostly fat and some protein. It is very similar to LDL. Triglycerides come from excess calories, alcohol and sugar which are converted in the liver and stored as fat cells all over the body. VLDL carry Triglycerides throughout the blood stream.
 While many may people may not be able to explain exactly what is high cholesterol, many can explain some of the health risks. Heart disease is a major risk of high cholesterol.
Heart disease is caused by plague building up in the arteries and this affects the flow of blood in the arteries. Hardening of the arteries is the next stage that results from this buildup. The technical name for this condition is atherosclerosis. At this point heart disease is apparent and if the blood supply to any portion of your heart is shut down, the result is heart attack.
 Chest pain called angina is another health risk. This results when not enough oxygen-carrying blood reaches the heart, because the amount of plague in the artery.
These risks usually happen suddenly due to the blockage happening after a blood clot forms on top of narrowing in an artery. Keeping the LDL low and the HDL high aids in limiting the plague in the arteries.
So how do people get high cholesterol? There are a number of ways to get high cholesterol. Eating unhealthy and family genes are two common ways people get high cholesterol. Age and gender are also factors that affect who gets high cholesterol. As we get older, cholesterol levels rise. Women tend to have lower cholesterol levels before menopause, but this tends to change after women reach 50. At this point women levels usually surpass men and it usually continues to increase until age 60-65.
A low-cholesterol diet can help improve cholesterol levels. Adding certain foods to your diet may be helpful. If the low-cholesterol diet does not work to lower bad cholesterol and increase good cholesterol, your doctor may prescribe medications. There are some over the counter options to aid is lowering cholesterol. One product is Red Yeast Rye.
 Controlling cholesterol levels should not only be thought about when there is a problem, but before you have any warning signs. If you closely manage your diet and the amount of cholesterol that you eat on a daily basis, you can put yourself onto a road that leads to a healthier cholesterol level throughout your life.

3 Powerful Tips to Make Your Blog Content a Success

This is a guest post compiled by +Daniel chinaza for OgbongeBlog

There are different reasons, interests and subjects that compel you to write articles for your blog. Many people create blogs to promote information on anything they have passion for; others do it to promote their business and services, providing information on the product or service they render so as to engage customer and increase sales. However, no matter what your reasons may be, success will only come when you provide good content for people to read.

People visit niche blogs because something has compelled them to do so. Nobody wakes up and visits a blog for no reason. Its either they needed some information and they entered a search term on Google and your blog came out as one of the results or they came through a call to action from a social media site. The reasons or ways through which they came does not matter, what matters most is that now that you’ve got them there, you have to provide good content that will engage them and make them visit again. But how do we actually do this? I will give you three tips.

successful blog

Choose Prevalent Topics

When deciding what to write, don’t just pick any topic and start writing on it. Choose prevalent topics; choose topics that people would be interested in reading. It could be trending media topics in your niche or current happenings in the society that are related to your niche, just make sure the subject you are picking is topical. You can also compare modern events and historical events, it’s up to you to choose topics or subjects that people will be interested to read.

While choosing prevalent topics, it’s important you know that trending topics fades with time, which means you have to draw a balance and choose topics that will stand the test of time.

Be Unique, Stay Ahead

Topical content is good but major success comes in blogging only when you are unique and ahead of the curve. By staying ahead of the curve, I mean you should learn how to create content on a style and subject that is not common.

Topical subjects are good and as a result, countless blogs all over the world will be taking advantage of it and this should make you ask yourself this question. If your visitors read a content or article somewhere, what’s going to make them read your content on a similar subject and still like it?

Putting or using a different spin on the subject or topic can do the trick but you will see more success if you come up with something new and innovative. The idea is just to create something unique that will make your blog stand out and different from others, that people will be interested to read.

Know Your Audience

When you know what the vast majority of your audience want, writing a good content will be easy. All you have to do is to write what they want and try as much as possible to make it interactive. This will make them enjoy your content and subscribe to it so that they can always return to read your latest post.

If the majority of your content or article appeals to the majority of your blog readers and new visitors too, you are going to end up creating a successful blog.

What's your take on this?

Blood Clots - Risks, Symptoms, and Dangers

Out of all the women, almost 240,000 had surgery during the monitoring period. Just over 5,400 women developed blood clots leading to hospitalization and 270 women died from clots and clot-related issues. When these women who underwent major surgeries were compared to women that didn't have surgery, they were 70 times more likely to face hospitalization due to blood clots and clot related issues. Women who underwent same-day surgeries like arthroscopies or procedures like biopsies were almost 10 times more likely to develop blood clots.

To sum up the study, researchers indicate that approximately 11.5 percent of women undergoing surgery would later be admitted for blood clots. The risk increases with type of surgery as well, with major orthopedic surgeries like hip and knee replacements and major cancer surgery causing the highest incidence. In fact, one woman in 45 developed blood clots after joint replacement and one in 85 after cancer surgery.
What are Blood Clots?
Blood clotting is a life-saving process by which the body repairs injured blood vessels. When a blood vessel is damaged platelets rush to the affected area to form the first plug slowing blood loss. At this point platelets become activated and begin releasing chemicals that start the clotting process in the body that ultimately leads to a protein called fibrin that forms a sort of mesh making the final clot. While this mechanism is beneficial, when clots break free from the injured area and travel around the body, serious health issues can occur.
Serious Clot Related Issues
The most serious clot related issues are deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, heart attack, and stroke. Each of these issues can be life-threatening and have different symptoms.
Deep Vein Thrombosis
Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) occurs when a blood clot forms in one or several of the deep veins within the body; it usually forms in the legs. Deep vein thrombosis often happens without any symptoms at all until the clot is causing a problem. Symptoms of DVT include:
 • Swelling
 • Pain that starts in the calf or thigh that resembles a charley horse
 • Inflammation
 • Skin changes like paleness and a blue tint
When these symptoms present, it's very important to see a doctor right away or visit the emergency room as soon as possible.
Pulmonary Embolism
When a blood clot travels to one or both lungs, the condition is called pulmonary embolism. Many different symptoms occur with pulmonary embolism and vary depending on the amount of lung affected, the clot's size, and overall health. Common symptoms of pulmonary symptoms are:
 • Trouble breathing that comes on quickly and occurs with activity or rest
 • Chest pain that worsens with deep breathing, coughing, or bending
 • Cough that produces blood-tinged mucous or sputum
The less common symptoms of pulmonary embolism include:
 • Wheezing
 • Swelling in legs
 • Clamminess
 • Excessive perspiration
 • Irregular or weak pulse
 • Feeling faint
Pulmonary embolism is a life-threatening condition that when treated with the proper medications is easily and quickly resolved with little ill effects.
Heart Attack
When a blood clot becomes lodged in the tiny vessels leading to heart muscle, a heart attack occurs. It's important to understand that symptoms of heart attacks present differently in every person. Where one person may experience the typical crushing chest pain, another person may just feel severe indigestion symptoms. The common heart attack symptoms are:
 • Pain, pressure, or aching in the chest that may spread to the jaw, back, or neck
 • Indigestion including heartburn, nausea, or pain
 • Trouble breathing
 • Clammy skin
 • Anxiety
 • Tiredness
 • Insomnia
 • Dizziness
Any chest pain is cause for a trip to the emergency room, but often times the more subtle symptoms present beforehand. When more than one of these symptoms occurs, contact a doctor right away.
Stroke
Blood clots that travel into the brain cause strokes, a serious condition in which brain tissue denied of oxygen begins to die. Stroke fatalities are much less common than they were a decade ago and treatment advances allows victims to overcome the ill effects sooner. Common symptoms of stroke include:
 • Sudden dizziness and balance issues
 • Trouble walking
 • Sudden inability to speak clearly and understand conversation
 • Paralysis on one side of the body
 • Vision changes in only one eye
 • Sudden, excruciating headache
Strokes, when treated early, are less likely to cause permanent brain damage and long-lasting complications. Stroke symptoms should be taken seriously.
Treatment
When patients suffer from blood clots, doctors generally prescribe blood-thinners, or anti-coagulants. Your physicians will decide which blood-thinning drug you should be prescribed based on the health issue your facing, its severity, and health history.

Page peel effect using jQuery

Page Peel is a popular page flip effect that when your cursor is passing over it, will show "what's behind" as if it would be a book. There are many ways to do this, many of them use flash files which makes it less customizable, however, the one that we will see in this post is made with jQuery.

Usually, the content that is "behind", is an image for subscribing to feed, but you can put any image and link to any page.

Demo

You can see an example in this demo blog.

How to Add the Page Curl Effect on Blogger

1. Log in to your Blogger dashsboard, select your blog > then go to Template > Edit HTML

2. Click anywhere inside the code area and search for the below tag by pressing the CTRL + F keys:

3. Just before
copy and paste this script:

4. Then before </b:skin> (CTRL + F to find it - if necessary, click on the left arrow) paste these styles:
/* Page Flip
----------------------------------------------- */
#pageflip {
position: relative;
right: 0;
top: 0px; /* Change to 30px if you have the navbar (navigation bar) */
float: right;
z-index:9;
}
#pageflip img {
width: 50px;
height: 52px;
z-index: 99;
position: absolute;
right: 0;
top: 0;
-ms-interpolation-mode: bicubic;
}
#pageflip .msg_block {
width: 50px;
height: 50px;
overflow: hidden;
position: absolute;
right: 0;
top: 0;
background: url(http://oi44.tinypic.com/2hheno6.jpg) no-repeat right top;
}
#pageflipMirror {
position: static;
right: 0;
top: 0;
float: right;
}
5. Finally, paste after
tag or if you can't find it, after this code:

The following code:

- In blue you will see a URL - this is the URL of the image that, in this case, is an invitation to subscribe to the feed. You can change it later to another (should be of the same size).
- You need to replace the url in red with the address of your blog, that will be the link to the blog's feed when the user clicks on the image behind, but you can put any URL in case you want to link to another page.

6. And that's it. To save the changes, click the Save template button.
Remember that this Page Peel effect uses jQuery, so you should only have one version of it, and if you use Scriptaculous or Mootools, you should apply some changes.

Customize the scroll bar (scrollbar) with JScrollPane

JScrollPane is a jQuery script that allows you to change the blog' scroll bar, ie the browser scrollbar.
Although we can use CSS to change it, the problem is that is not standardized, because with CSS we can make it work only in Chrome and Safari; and in the case of Internet Explorer it also has its own code but obviously it only works in that browser (I don't know which versions). So what we will do then is to give a new look to the scrollbar but by using jQuery, so the change will be visible in all browsers.

Demo

You can see an example in this test blog where the scroll bar has a different shape and color.

How to change the scrollbar on Blogger

1. Go to Template > Edit HTML and before
paste this code:

2. Then locate this tag:

Or this line:

Under any of these two add this:

3. Finally search for the
and above it paste this:

Save the changes and that's all. In green you will see where you can change the scrollbar colors and its different areas, or add other styles, such as shadows, rounded corners, etc..
If you want the top and bottom limits to not appear (as in the example) then remove what is in red.

Remember that the script uses jQuery, so if you already have it, then don't put the script again (the first line of code). If you are using Scriptaculous or Mootools, then you should make some slight changes in order to make it work.

Maybe the code might appear long but better add the scripts directly in the template, so the scripts will always be available and load faster. Regardless of all of this the end result is quite aesthetic, don't you think?
