Today’s consumers are getting more interested in smartphones and Nigeria is not left out of the smartphone revolution. Right now in Nigeria, Tecno Mobile is winning the smartphone war as they are taking over the mobile phone market in Nigeria with their new range of Tecno Android smartphones.

Building its smartphones on the tested and trusted Android platform and keeping prices low has added to the popularity of Tecno Androids in Nigeria and across Africa. If you are on a very tight budget looking to enjoy mobile technologies that until now has been exclusive to the middle class and the rich, you can now get yourself one of the latest Tecno Android phones and feel among :)

Now that some bad guys are aware that Nigeria is one of the top markets for Tecno products, they have started scamming some consumers by selling fake Tecno Androids to them. To combat this, Tecno Mobile has created a webpage for genuine battery check and genuine phone check for Tecno Androids. Using the VC, Serial number and imei number of your Tecno phone, you can now check if your phone and battery are original.

How?

Just go to: http://gc.tecno-mobile.com/index and enter the info, then click submit.

genuine Tecno check

Disable Right Click On Blogger Blog With This Code

Preventing text selection on your blog is one of the more popular ways to fight plagiarism as it prevents anyone from copying texts easily from your blog. While it is effective to some extent, in preventing content theft, it also frustrates honest readers by denying them access to useful functions associated with the right click menu, such as Back, Reload, Save as.., Print etc

There are different ways you can disable right-click on your blog. The popluar methods include source padding, css encoding, javascript encryption and trapping the mouse right click.

In this post, I am sharing with you, a simple code you can use to disable text selection on your blog and it works perfectly on Blogger blogs. If you implement it, your blog readers will not be able to select any text, hence they will not be able to right-click. Although, they will be able to right-click on links and images.I like this trick because anyone trying to copy will not even see any pop up telling him or her that the right click has been disabled.

plagiarism

If you run an entertainment blog, you can implement this on your blog but if you run a tutorial blog, I don't think this will be a good idea unless you will ensure that your readers will still be able to copy some codes you might have shared in some of your blog posts.

Below is the simple code you need to disable right click.

If you don't want to disable right click on all your blog posts, you can just disable it in a single post by copying and pasting the code at the end of your post in the HTML view of your Blogger Post editor. (Not compose mode).

If you want to disable right click on all the posts of your Blogspot blog, go to Template > Edit HTML nd use CTRL F to find : </b:skin>

Directly below it, copy and paste the code.

Try it and let me hear from you if it works for you or not. If you know other methods, kindly share via comments.

Mind you, the smart ones will still be able to bypass it but this is still better than doing nothing. To prevent theft of your post images, I recommend you add watermark to the images to prevent reuse.

Cheers!

How To Use YouTube To Get Google Adsense Account Approved (2013 Trick)

Recently, some of my blog readers have been asking me how to get Adsense approval via YouTube within few hours. I've discovered the steps involved and I've decided to share the trick with you in this post. Although, I can't guarantee if it will work for you by the time you will be reading this, but you can always give it a try.

How To Get Started

==> Create a new GMail at www.gmail.com

==> Sign in to YouTube.com with the new GMail you just created

==> Create five short videos with your phone, camera etc and Upload them to YouTube. Might be videos of you doing some funny stuffs etc. Just be creative and ensure you add useful title and description tags to the uploaded videos.

==> I recommend you get at least a total of 300+ views on all your videos. You can easily achieve this via Facebook. Google+, Twitter etc.

YouTube_Adsense

==> At YouTube, click on the small arrow beside the "upload" button, then click "Video manager" > "Channel Settings"

==> Click on the "Enable" tab besides "Monetisation"

==> The page might refresh, after which you will have to click "Enable my account".

==> Tick all the boxes and click the "I accept" button to accept the YouTube monetisation agreement.

==> Thereafter, you will see a new page where you can select your ad formats. Click on the "Monetize" button.

You should receive a message in your inbox saying your YouTube account is ready for monetisation.

==> Go back to Channel Settings > Monetisation

==> Click on “How will I be paid”? --- > Associate an Adsense account.

YouTube_monetisation

You will be redirected to create a new Adsense account.

==> Fill the form accordingly, ensuring you fill in real name (payee name) and address.

Once you have completed this process, you will be redirected back to YouTube. Thereafter, wait for like 2 hours and check your mail. You should receive a mail that your Adsense account has been approved.

So, How Do I Link the Adsense Account To My Blog?

Blogspot

If you are using .blogspot.com address, you will have to link your new Adsense GMail to your blog (if you are currently using a different email for your blog).

To do this, go to your Blogger dashboard, click on "Settings" > "Basic". Scroll down to "Permissions" and click "Add authors". Enter the new Gmail you used for YouTube. Check the GMail inbox and click on the invitation link. Go back to the settings page in your Blogger dashboard to change it to an admin, then delete the initial email address.

Thereafter, you can easily add Google Ads to your blog via the "Earnings" tab in your Blogger dashboard.

If you are using a custom domain for your Blogger blog, add the new
GMail to your blog and remove the initial email as explained above, then follow the instruction below.

Custom/Hosted Domain

If you are using a hosted domain for your blog (Wordpress or Blogger), follow the steps below:

==> Log in to www.google.com/adsense, click on the Settings icon besides the "Help" tab. Then, click on "Settings"

==> Click on "Access and Authorization" > "Site authorization".

==> Tick the "Only allow certain sites to show ads for my account" box, add your custom domain, submit and it will be reviewed then approved.

After all of that, go to your Adsense account, click on “My ads” then Create a new Ad Unit and implement the code in your website. You might see blank spaces on your blog. Just chill and keep blogging while you await the approval mail from Google Adsense. Once approved, the blank spaces will change to live ads.

If rejected, review the reasons and re-apply. If they fail to accept it, you can remove the custom domain from your Blogger blog and the ads will show on the blogspot.

Please, ensure your abide by the Adsense TOS and avoid Adsense forbidden content. ‘Do No Evil’ as Google say, Google will hunt you down and kick you out of the service if you do illegal activities.

I hope this works for you.

Kindly share your experience if you've tried this trick. If you have questions to ask or have one or two things to add to this, please let me hear from you via comments.

PLEASE, share this post with your friends.

Deactivation of the Jumia Nigeria Affiliate Program

Few months ago, Jumia Nigeria started their affiliate program for bloggers and internet users to make money promoting the products on Jumia. To show that they did well with this, Jide made some money promoting just one product for Jumia via commission junction. I'm sure many of you applied for the affilate program and may have also made some money promoting products.

However, few days ago, Jumia Nigeria sent out a mail to all their affiliate partners about the closure of the affiliate program. Here is the mail I got.

Dear Adesoji Adegbulu,
Unfortunately we have to announce that Jumia Nigeria will close the CJ affiliation program by December 31st.
All sales via CJ, which are generated before the 31st of December will be treated in the regular way and commissions for valid sales will be paid out.
Please be aware that all Jumia Nigeria links will not work anymore after 31st of December.
We would like to thank you for the great collaboration and cooperation.
If you have further questions regarding the affiliate program of Jumia Nigeria please do not hesitate to contact us.
Sincerly,
Your CJ Publisher Support-Team

The affiliate program via Commission Junction (CJ) will be closed on December 31st, 2013. As you can read, all commission will be paid out as at when due.

Now, the question is, is Jumia Nigeria stopping their affiliate program forever? What's the reason behind the closure? Are they losing out of the ecommerce market already? There are so many speculations simply because Jumia Nigeria didn't give reasons in their email. Also, there is a speculation that they are moving to another affiliate platform. If that is the reason, i think it should be communicated in their email.

What do you think about the deactivation of the Jumia Nigeria affiliate program?

I'll be looking forward to your responses.

Regards,

Adesoji

How to Use Character Entities in CSS, HTML and JavaScript

Sometimes, when using scripts, we must write special characters like accents by using a special set of codes called character entities, however these don't always look good or we get a question mark or other strange symbols. Usually, this is solved if the character encoding is done right but the logic may not always work.

In Blogger, special characters most of the time appear correctly, but when it is about other services, like external files, things can get complicated.

For example, this usually looks good and when you click on this link, you should see the letters in the right way:
alert(" á é í ó ú ☺ ✛ ❤ ");
If we are trying to use other method and we want to use this type of characters, sometimes we need to write them in a special format called escape sequence which is nothing but a backslash followed by a letter and a number in hexadecimal format. In the case of common characters or accents, it would be \x followed by two hex digits:
\xe1 is the letter á
\xe9 is the letter é
\xed is the letter í
\xf3 is the letter ó
\xfa is the letter ú
Other combinations generate special characters:
\n is a line break
\t is the tab character
\' is single quote
\" is double quote
\\ is a back slash
Or we can use \u followed by the Unicode character code expressed as four hexadecimal digits:
\u00e1 is the letter á
\u00e9 is the letter é
\u00ed is the letter í
\u00f3 is the letter ó
\u00fa is the letter ú
this will allow us to see correctly what we couldn't before if we were using some other services:
alert(" \u263a \u2764 \u271b ");
On this page you can find a comprehensive list of all the characters, both symbols and different alphabets.
Although rare characters are not often used in the CSS, there is a case when they are necessary as well, like when using the content property with the :after and :before pseudo-elements.

The same criteria applies there, but we only need to add a backslash followed by the four-digit hexadecimal code. For example:
content: ":\24d1\24d4\24d5\24de\24e1\24d4";

content: ":after \263a \2724 \2602";

Remember that IE doesn't understand the :before pseudoclass with content, and you would have to set the list-style-type property as none, or you would get 2 bullets in CSS compliant browsers.

How to Create a Sitemap or Table of Contents in Blogger

One of the limitations of a blog is that it doesn't have an index or sitemap of the site that could make it easier for readers to find content that they are searching for.
While the blog archive and labels have all the information about the published post, these do not appear on a single page completely, so searching for more posts is not always easy.

Luckily, this gadget will help you to add a table of contents or sitemap on Blogger showing the index of all posts separated by categories that have been published. It will also show the latest posts with a text saying New!

Demo: You can see it working by clicking here.

How To Add a Sitemap with a List of Posts to Blogger

To implement it on your blog, follow the steps below:

Step 1. Login to your Blogger Dashboard and select your blog
Step 2. Go to Pages > click the New Page button and select Blank page

Step 3. Click on the HTML tab and paste the following code inside the empty box:

Change the URL of the image where is indicated, and furthermore, it is important that each image has a unique ID, in this example the ID is called easeydrag1, that ID must be twice.

If you have another picture with this effect, then you should put a different image with other ID, for example easydrag2, otherwise it will not work:

And how do you do if you want to put a link to the image?

We will set one Javascript function, so that when we will double click on it to open the page we want.

In this case, the code you would use, would be this:

With this the picture can be without any problems dragged around and can be activated by double clicking on its link.

Filter out your visits to your blog from Google Analytics traffic statistics

The results of daily visits in the web hit counters always have a margin of error. In most of them, this margin is very high, therefore the statistics shown are not even a bit closer to the actual visits we have. Google Analytics has a very short margin of error, which makes it more reliable, so that we have a better idea of how many people visit us.

However, if you visit your own website, either to check if everything works well, to review comments, to answer them, to see if anyone is online, or just because you need to enter, then your visit will also be registered in the counter. This implies that the margin of error is larger again, because those visits are not our actual visits and we are not interested in knowing how many times we are coming back to our site, but how many people from elsewhere are visiting.
Therefore what we can do is to filter our IP so that we won't be registered in the statistics and thus to get "cleaner" results on the total number of visits and page views.
 1. The first thing is to find out what is your IP address. Just type "what is my ip address" on google and above all of the results it will say "Your public IP address is..." or you can use an online service that shows your IP. There are many of these sites, one of them being http://whatismyipaddress.com... just go to the site and it will automatically show your IP.
 2. Login to your Google Analytics account and click Admin in the orage bar on the right side. This will take you to the account administration screen
 3. On the left is the Account section and below you'll find a tab called All Filters, just click the "+NEW FILTER" button.
 4. Give the filter any name you'd like. Filter Type is "Predefined filter", "Exclude", choose "traffic from the IP addresses" and "that are equal to" then enter your four numbered IP address you looked up in step 1. Check whether it's IPv6 or not (if you don't know leave it unchecked).
 5. Save the changes.
Screenshot:

google analytics filters

You can add as many IP as you want, depending on how many different computers you use to access your site. And that's it. Now you can browse your site without registering a click in the Google Analytics metrics.

How To Add Snow In The Background of Your Blog Using CSS

Today we’re going to go over a super simple CSS technique that you can use to make it snow on your Blogger blog. It seems particularly attractive since it doesn't require scripts, only CSS and three small images.

An advantage of this method is that by not using scripts doesn't overload the blog, the disadvantage is that users with not so modern browsers, will not be able to see it (in Internet Explorer works for version 10 and up).
The snow will fall in the background of the blog, which, in addition, prevent interfering with links or content (because the flakes are images), also prevent blocking the visibility of the content of the blog.

falling snow, snow, winter background, blogger

You can see the demo in this test blog.

How To Add Falling Snow To Blogger Blogspot

Step 1. Go to Template and click on the Edit HTML button:

Step 2. Click the small arrow on the left of <b:skin>...</b:skin> to expand the style (screenshot 1) and click anywhere inside the code area to search by using the CTRL + F keys for the </b:skin> tag (screenshot 2)

Step 3. Add the following code just above it:
/* Snow falling for Blogger
----------------------------------------------- */
@keyframes snow {
0% {background-position: 0px 0px, 0px 0px, 0px 0px;}
100% {background-position: 500px 1000px, 400px 400px, 300px 300px;}
}

@-moz-keyframes snow {
0% {background-position: 0px 0px, 0px 0px, 0px 0px;}
100% {background-position: 500px 1000px, 400px 400px, 300px 300px;}
}

@-webkit-keyframes snow {
0% {background-position: 0px 0px, 0px 0px, 0px 0px;}
100% {background-position: 500px 1000px, 400px 400px, 300px 300px;}
}

@-ms-keyframes snow {
0% {background-position: 0px 0px, 0px 0px, 0px 0px;}
100% {background-position: 500px 1000px, 400px 400px, 300px 300px;}
}

#falling-snow {
background-image: url(https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6hyDfswRCQXFZiz7Zad9DHNvm7b2Cwxq1eEpGZEt2suBOXA3Cg0sJxGPhyphenhyphentFxetxXg_E8LD8VSZRve-rc9dJRI7k1acj7M3ZrkANJpLqhKAt3w2inhx4PmlcCCb0nLAyE8PnEr8Uvv3a6/s1600/snow.png), url(https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjR04t-rYDSlTcKytISnk2tdaO39xRKHsK3Mgwwm1bL8T9ZCe0j4JdkLSSWqMrPmQfZ5xNAO5WSunrMVf8mLBHBKOMiGZJfq8q53Vp7Rdp05XG24EjTYPPKqOsRgx2XlHVBJ-4Z6GTpr4v_/s1600/snow3.png), url(https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtuJWQytFkTXrpgaTGCcrdKY46sHJye_KAHiIDJenZPL3ubBm4kxDA7omA1XHyNWX4nr20KS60nrTzNRPRJE59iNI7Xu3ApvdlXtIpRgm1fVs-g-eGtOnlDq0T2-8TuxWoaZo55AL6rYaO/s1600/snow2.png);
-webkit-animation: snow 20s linear infinite;
-moz-animation: snow 20s linear infinite;
-ms-animation: snow 20s linear infinite;
animation: snow 20s linear infinite;
}
Screenshot 1:

Screenshot 2:

Step 3. Now, search (CTRL + F) the
tag or if you can't find it, search this line below:

Step 4. And just below, add this:

Step 5. Finally, find the
tag (CTRL + F) and add the following just above it:

Step 6. Save the changes and that's it. Enjoy!!! :)

As you can see this tricks is very simple and easy to install, does not block the visibility of blog's content and most important, it has no scripts, only CSS and nothing else.
